Tracking technical availability (TA) or sometimes also called “Maintenance Availability” is very useful in the context of OEE (overall equipment effectiveness). The reason for this is that it allows you to assess how well your maintenance is performing.
The calculation of TA shows the percentage of planned production time without unexpected technical difficulties or maintenance needs.
TA = (Planned Time – Unplanned Technical Stops) / Planned Time
If, for example, your technical availability is at 85%, then you know that 15% of your planned production time is lost due to technical issues that can be resolved by improving maintenance and reliability. Also, by tracking TA, you can give feedback to your maintenance provider on how efficiently they are doing their job.
Before you can analyze TA, you need to define which production stop reasons in your factory are considered as technical difficulties or unexpected maintenance issues.
It is important to keep in mind that you can only include unplanned production stops in the calculation of TA.
Go to Settings in Evocon and click on the “Stops” tab.
Click the “edit” icon for the stop that you want to include in the TA calculation.
Turn “Include in technical availability” ON.
Complete this step for all the unplanned downtime reasons that you want to include in the calculation.
Note: if you need to complete this process on more than ten stop reasons, you can also contact our support and we will help you with the process.
